Board of Trustees

Utah Dispute Resolution is governed by a Board of Trustees that sets policies for the organization in keeping with the mission statement and establishes a vision for the organization's growth and direction. The board also functions to establish legal and fiscal controls, raise funds, guarantee sound management, and advocate for the organization.

Utah Dispute Resolution's Board of Trustees in comprised of the following individuals:

William W. Downes, Jr., President

Michele Mattsson, Vice-President
Chief Appellate Mediator with the Utah Court of Appeals

Palmer DePaulis, Secretary-Treasurer
Recently retired Executive Director of the Utah Department of Human Services; former Chair of the Utah State ADR Council.

Julie Schleck, Trustee
Professional background as an experienced banking executive; currently provides banking consulting services.

Adam Mow, Trustee

David Leta, Trustee
Partner at the law firm of Snell & Wilmer specializing in bankruptcy, business reorganizations, and creditor rights. 

Stephen Kelson, Trustee
Attorney with the law firm of Christensen & Jensen, specializing in commercial litigation. Steve has served as a long-term volunteer mediator with UDR.

Karen Okabe, Trustee
Private consultants; formerly held executive positions in human resource management in the public and private sectors.

Kate Kopischke, Trustee
Independent mediator and dialogue facilitator specializing in private and public sector collaborative engagement for environmental and social conflict resolution.

Northern Utah Advisory Committee

Utah Dispute Resolution (UDR) is assisted by an advisory committee of individuals who reside in northern Utah. This committee helps identify areas of need and sources of funding to support programs for low-income residents in northern Utah communities. Committee members serve as ambassadors for UDR's programs in the community. UDR's Advisory Committee is comprise of the following individuals:
