Utah Dispute Resolution (UDR) provides mediation services for families in conflict. Disputes range from divorce and paternity to estate probate and end-of-life decisions. Examples of disputes that are addressed through mediation include relationships involving:

UDR cannot schedule a family mediation until we have received questionnaires from all parties involved in the dispute. When we have received the questionnaires, a UDR Case Manager will contact you with additional questions and to gather availability for scheduling the mediation.

 
 

Administration Fee: Utah Dispute Resolution (UDR) charges each party in the dispute a one-time, non-refundable $35 administration fee to open a family mediation case.

Mediation Fee: UDR’s standard mediation fee is $160.00 per hour, split between the parties ($80.00/hr each). Each party may separately apply for a reduced fee based on income level (see Reduced Fee Program below).

 
 
  • Reduced Fee Program

      Clients with financial need may request consideration for a reduced mediation fee by submitting an Application for Reduced Fee (found in the third part of the Intake Questionnaire). Each party’s income will be considered separately, and the mediation fee will be assessed according to UDR’s Sliding Fee Scale.

      Clients whose income falls at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) qualify for a fee waiver for up to five hours of mediation. Clients whose income exceeds this level but but still fall within Federal Poverty Guidelines are assessed a reduced fee. Individually assessed fees may range from $40/hour to $60/hour for the person applying.

      Clients who choose the Reduced Fee Program must accept a qualified mediator who is assigned on a rotational basis from UDR’s Pro Bono or Domestic Practicum Rosters. Clients in the Reduced Fee Program may not select a specific mediator. However, UDR strives to assign a mediator whose skills would be appropriate for the parties and situation involved.

  • Professional Roster Program

      Clients who want to select their mediator may choose from among UDR's Professional Roster of experienced family mediators. The mediation fee will be assessed at a flat rate of $200.00 per hour, regardless of income levels. This fee is typically split equally between the parties in dispute. By selecting their mediator, clients will not be considered for reduced fees.

  • Protective Orders & Stalking Injunctions

      If there is an existing protective order or stalking injunction involving you and another party in the dispute, you will need to provide a copy of this document to UDR.

      Unless the protective order allows you to meet in mediation with the other party, you will need to modify the order before UDR can schedule the mediation. The modification will not change the terms of the protective order other than allow you to participate in mediation.
